Question of the Day: Why is it called common sense when it is far from common?

I dealt with a gentleman who wanted to register a business today. This is a legal document. I looked at the name he chose. It was J** Toast Equipment. At least, that was what it looked like. Fortunately, I asked, and he told me it was J** Tools & Equipment. I'll confess, I wondered what "Toast Equipment" meant, other than a toaster.

What I cannot understand is why people cannot write clearly on legal documents. Even if you do not have access to a typewriter, wouldn't it make sense to print clearly? Oh wait, there I go, trying to make sense again. I should know better.

Ah well, back to the insanity.
